Hi, I’m Kendal, one of Impact Hub Seattle’s Community Managers.
Originally from Baltimore, I came to Seattle over 20 years ago to study nutrition at Bastyr University. I lived in a student co-op in the U-district during my time at Bastyr and upon graduating became a single mom! The next step for me was to start another, smaller co-op household and proceeded to spend the next decade in the foodservice industry and as an entrepreneur. In 2010, I opened Kendal’s Kitchen – a healthy, heat and serve home meal delivery service which enjoyed 6 successful years of growth before I closed it in 2016. After closing and catching my breath, I decided to work toward the pursuit of an MBA degree. I wanted something new, something that would allow me to use my skills in user experience, systems-thinking, innovation and love of learning. As is true of many of us “Hubsters” – I want to help make the world a better place. I began studying for the GMAT and volunteered for the Host program as a way to gain access to this vibrant community while I was out of work and building my new trajectory.
Joining the Impact Hub team as Community Manager was not in the original set of plans when I set about to pursue the MBA. However, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work more closely with a project I believe in. I plan to apply to the evening program at Seattle University so I can have my cake and eat it too!
