Collaborative Leadership for Rising Managers

“Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.” – John Maxwell

In this highly experiential workshop, we’ll show you how you can build a collaborative leadership practice through three critically important tools: psychological safety, radically honest feedback and powerful one-to-one conversations.
Leadership is no longer about telling people what to do, it’s about empowering them to be their best selves.

So, how can you bring out the best in your people?
In this highly experiential workshop, we’ll show how you can build a collaborative leadership practice through three critically important tools: psychological safety, radically honest feedback and powerful one-to-one conversations.

Who is this workshop for?
This workshop experience is for leaders who are just starting their journey or want to brush up on their skills, particularly for those who are passionate about their development and those of others. This workshop is not for you if you’ve done extensive training, reading or coaching on management or leadership development.

Melissa is a believer in out-and-proud vulnerability and encourages you to bring your whole self — your stories, insecurities, fears, ambitions, challenges.

Part 1: Vision Starts with Radical Authenticity

“Leadership is the sum total of who you are. Leaders are developed not simply born and we can all develop ourselves to be able to guide others. Anyone who follows their internal compass can become an authentic leader.”

Bill George , True North: Discover Your Authentic Leadership

Who we are is how we lead. When we know ourselves, we know how to inspire and get the best out of ourselves — and our people.

Bringing together strategy and spirituality, I’ll help you uncover two of the cornerstones for radically authentic leadership: purpose and values– why you exist and what you stand for.

When our work is aligned to our purpose and values, it instills a profound courage to speak truth to power, advocate for ourselves and others, and paint a vision that challenges the status quo.

Part 2: A Powerful Strategic Vision Will Inspire the World

How can you create a strategic vision that inspires your people, clients, partners, investors and communities? How can you empower your people to focus on the most mission critical priorities?

Building off your purpose and values, I’ll show you a process for co-creating a powerful strategic vision to inspire and focus your people.

I spent five years as a lead strategist at Wolff Olins, a creative consultancy famous for its work on the 2012 Olympics, Uber, Tate and (RED). Strategic storytelling is one of my superpowers.

We’ll work together to begin the journey of uncovering the core facets of your strategy: your audience: who you are for, your cause: what problem you’re solving, your organization’s purpose: why you exist, your outcome: what the world will look like when your work is done, your core metric: what are you trying to achieve, and your strategic priorities: where are you people focusing their energy.

Part 3: The Best Leaders Make People Feel Safe

How can you create a culture that grows your people to deliver excellence and manifest your vision?

Psychological safety is the foundation for collaboration and the most common attribute between high-impact teams.

The best leaders create a culture where people feel safe, where they can truly show their deepest and most authentic selves (even the dark, ugly and non-Instagrammable sides) to work, where they can challenge authority, speak truth to power, experiment, play, fail and make mistakes.

I’ll share memorable soulful stories, practical tips and tools to create a culture of psychological safety, so you can bring out the voices of every single member of your team.

TakeawaysWith all my workshops, I aspire to create a safe, vulnerable and creative space where you can build practical emotional skills, tools and practices to:

Design a psychologically safe team culture

Give and receive tough-to-hear feedback

Facilitate deeply transformational one-to-one conversations
